BENEFITING: SAVINGSPECIES

Roger Harris

THE STORY:

SavingSpecies stops extinctions. That's our sole objective. But we need your help to succeed. Let me explain what we do, so you can see how we are different, and how we stretch your generous donation further than any other conservation organization.

We help in-country nonprofits buy degraded farm and ranch land that's no good for agriculture. We don't own land, but help conservation organizations buy it. They employ local people to restore the land with planting native tree species.

Sites are selected based on scientific criteria that enable us to save the most biodiversity for the least amount of money. So our science board selects sites that join up existing forests, increasing the effective conservation area.

We are totally transparent about how donations are spent. Our giving page lets you choose if you want to donate to the project only, or to help out with operations. We are a 100% volunteer organization, so none of your money goes to CEO salaries or plush offices. It just goes to where it will do the most good.

We're small, but effective. But because we don't have the mega-dollar advertising budget of the big name conservation organizations, we really need your help to save animals like the golden lion tamarin in the photo. (See our Brazil project.) Please donate using the button on the right, or by visiting our donor web page.

Thank you so much. You are doing a good thing by helping us save the plants and animals that make our planet so beautiful and that bring value and meaning to our lives.
