After seven and a half years at SCALE, I will be stepping down from my position as Executive Director at the end of the month. I am also happy to announce that Alexana Garcia, our current literacy programs director, will be stepping up to take on leadership at SCALE! With experience in both youth and adult literacy program management, human resources management and fundraising, Alexana brings a great deal of expertise to the role and I am certain she will lead SCALE to new and exciting places in the years to come.
I am asking for your support today to position Alexana to help SCALE reach more students, more volunteers, and more partners with the critical training, tutoring and support our communities need to improve literacy skills and create a more just world.
Each year, SCALE supports organizations to train thousands of literacy tutors around the country who serve some of our most vulnerable citizens. SCALE also provides leadership skills to young adults though the America Reads and Counts program and our North Carolina LiteracyCorps AmeriCorps program to train our future social justice advocates. SCALE alums go on to run non-profits and for-profit businesses, teach in schools and serve in government. SCALE alums are giving back to our communities as lawyers, teachers and business leaders.
I want to thank you all for your support over the past seven years during my tenure at SCALE. SCALE wouldn't be what it is today without your partnership and encouragement. I am so grateful to have been entrusted to run such an amazing organization.
Your donation today will help to ensure that our good work together can continue long into the future; that children and adults will continue to access high quality literacy tutoring, that literacy organizations locally and around the country receive the training and technical assistance they need to grow their programs and that SCALE can continue to be a powerful voice advocating for literacy education.
