BENEFITING: A Broader View Volunteers
EVENT DATE: Dec 13, 2013
Hello! For those of you that do not know me, my name is Robby Sachs and I am a junior at the University of Southern California majoring in Business Administration. This holiday season, instead of returning to my hometown of Albuquerque, I am planning a volunteer trip to Honduras for HIV awareness and treatment in the city of La Ceiba with a program called A Broader View. A Broader View is a volunteer program getting US students to countries around the world to work alongside the local populations to make a difference in the lives of others. Honduras is one of the places that needs attention. Unfortunately, Honduras has been struck horribly by HIV, with 60 percent of all cases in Central America coming from the small country and with an estimated 150,000 pregnant women carrying the virus. I will be working for two weeks to help diagnose and treat those with HIV as well as leading workshops on the virus in an attempt to destigmatize the affliction.
In order to help these people I need to actually get to Honduras. This is where you all come in :)
International travel is rather costly and I am asking for your help to get me to Honduras. Any contribution to this fund is greatly appreciated no matter the size.
I hope to keep you all in the loop as well about my adventure and let you all know about my progress! I have created a blog that you can view at robbyinhonduras.blogspot.com! I will be keeping daily posts about my progress and add some pictures for you all to see what I am doing!
Thank you for reading this and happy holidays!
