Shaban Varajab has been awarded a Masters Scholarship by Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies (University of Notre Dame in Indiana State USA) to study Masters in Peace Building and Conflict Resolution. Shaban will be majoring in Policy Analysis and Political Change, a field that he has always wanted to pursue. Kroc Scholarship only takes care of Tuition and Monthly Allowance, a benefit that will come when I arrive in USA. Shaban needs help to raise $5000 so that he can meet VISA, Air ticket and small expenses as he plans to settle in USA. As at now he does not have enough money to meet the costs mentioned. Shaban has 2 month left to go.

Your support will help him travel and settle comfortably for and pursue this golden opportunity. Shaban has always had this dream to advance his studies in Peace Building and Conflict Transformation focusing keenly on Policy Analysis and Political Change.
Why? Shaban holds an undergraduate degree in Education Arts(Mathematics and Economics) from Moi University(2010) and a Certificate in Peace Building from St Augustine College of South Africa ( under a Scholarship awarded to him by Mennonite Central Committee-Kenya in Partnership with African Peace Building Institute). Further, Shaban has been working with Rural Women Peace Link which has helped research and gather experience in this line of peace building. To him this is not enough if he has to work effectively and efficiently. He still needs to do more to sharpen his skills, knowledge and experience. Kroc Institute Scholarship is giving him the golden chance to realize this at an international level-a rear opportunity to get.
Shaban is so excited to take up this opportunity since this is a big step which will help him improve my ability to influence policy-making processes on peace building issues- something am passionate about. The university facility, professional professors, and international mix of participants will help him to explore policy-making skills within local, national and international contexts, its connection with governance and relevance to peace building processes. He wants to go advance and learn more about the basic approaches to policy analysis and formation, the roles of diverse stakeholders, and the factors that influence their decisions. He want to expand and practice key skills such as how to craft policy briefs and advocate effectively something Kenya and other Africa states need most to realize sustainable development. He strongly believes that advancing his studies in Peace building will help him gain a foothold in more advances and challenging development organizations such as various branches of the UN, the African Union, and perhaps even Kenyan government ministries after graduation. He also hopes to pursue his interest in research in the area of policy engagement and governance, either through doing a PhD or research with a government department, so that I can join other actors to further critique existing policy, identify and advocate for alternatives, and develop materials to support needed transformation.

Shaban need support because of his financial background which cannot stand the test now. Support from friends and well wishers will be a big relief since it will help him move forward in pursuit of his career and educational dreams.
