HELP to REBUILD DALCHOKI SCHOOL
The horrific earthquake of April 25th devastated the entire country of Nepal. In the small village of Dalchocki, located 2 hours outside of Kathmandu, over 90% of the buildings were completely destroyed.
Education in Nepal is key to providing hope for the future. Dalchoki’s main Secondary School and the largest school in the district, ‘Shree Goth Bhanjyang’ welcomed its 447 and 17 teachers students from surrounding villages. During the earthquake the school and its 11 classrooms were either badly damaged or completely destroyed.
Today the students of Dalchoki are still in need of properly equipped classrooms that go beyond lines of make-shift benches and temporary structures which are susceptible to the elements. An environment which is once again viewed as a ‘safe haven’ which encourages learning, group work and activities is desperately needed.
The PALDORJE EDUCATION FOUNDATION has committed to supporting the rebuilding of Dalchocki School. Initial assessments will take place in October with a view to begin the rebuilding process in March / April.
