Imagine waking up to chronic joint and muscle pain, occasional hair loss and damage to your heart and kidneys. Shoyea-Gaye Grant is a 23 year old student from rural St. Andrew, Jamaica who battles this with every breath she takes, but is on a mission to complete her masters degree at the University of the West Indies, Mona in Jamaica. She was diagnosed with Lupus at 17. A disease where the immune system attacks the body and leaves you with pure pain. She is also battling Fibromyalgia, Mitral Valve Prolapse, Arthritis and Nephritis. Has this stopped her dreams on her educational journey? Not when your valedictorian of the UWI, Mona Social Sciences undergraduate class of 2013 (4.0 GPA) and a 2013 Prime Minister National Youth Awardee for Academic Excellence. Her latest efforts include spokesperson for the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica, and most notably her giving back to her community through volunteering at the Pilgrim Church of God-Mavis Bank. She is determined to gain a masters degree in Clinical Psychology to help others with the psychological impacts of not only Lupus, but other illnesses. She has already completed her first year of the masters program but is in much need to pay for her current tuition fees of $4,730 US. Her father is financially burdened with 3 daughters, the costly Lupus medical bills and a wife who suffered a stroke. Due to the full-time masters program working is not a possibility. Shoyea wants to transform her dream into a reality and be an asset to her community and country. Please share your love unlimited and donate $10, $20, $25 or $50 today to help Shoyea MASTER Lupus.
