Sofia is an amazing Ukrainian Warrior Kid with Down syndrome who is loved, adored and cherished by her family, freinds and relatives. At the age of 4 months she successfully endured a heart surgery to correct her congenital heart defect. Sofia is an active, smart, beautiful little angel who enjoys dolls, toys, books and photo shoots. The recent blood and bone marrow tests confirmed the diagnosis we cannot fully grasp. But, although children with Down syndrome are more likely to get leukemia at the yong age, they also respond better to proper treatment. Unfortunately, Ukrainian medical expertise is not as advanced in leukemia treatment of Down syndrome kids as in Europe or in the United States.
We hope and pray that the treatment offered by The University Medical Children Center Freiburg in Germany will be successful and can help Sofia beat her leukemia. For kids with Down syndrome, leukemia treatment is more successful than for other kids due to a genetic mutation found only in Down syndrome children as new research shows. Sofia has a great chance of a substantially higher survival rate and a lower relapse rate due to her genetic mutation. The only obstacle for a second chance of Sofia's life is a required treatment amount.
Sofia's leukemia has a very aggressive and acute form and requires an immediate traetment. We are targeting for November 25, 2014 to collect the required amount for Sofia's treatment in Germany. I am very grateful for your support and prayers to help us raise the required amount. Please spread the word and reach out to anyone who may help Sofia beat her leukemia.
