BENEFITING: PROJECT MEXICO OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH
EVENT DATE: Dec 31, 2014
Project Mexico is launching a Matching Grant program with a goal to raise $200,000 for St. Innocent Orphanage. The Fall/Winter season, especially before Christmas, can be tremendously tight financially, and as a past participant in Project Mexico and the St. Innocent Orphanage, I am deepy compelled to contribute my efforts to helping Project Mexico raise the funds needed in order to continue operations at St. Innocent Orphanage.
I had the opportunity to physically contribute my efforts to Project Mexico in 2006 and now I am asking YOU to help me financially contribute to a truly inspiring group. Any donations, big or small are very much appreciated! We are on a tight time schedule - as we are trying to make our goals by December 31, 2014 - so there really is no better time to donate than the present!!
I first became affiliated with St. Innocent Orphanage in 2006, while on a Project Mexico trip with a group from my Chuch, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Chuch in Westfield, NJ. The mission of Project Mexico is to spend one week building a home within one of the most impoverished communities in Tijuana, Mexico.
During my trip, our goal was to build a house for a family of five. With the help of the family and neighbors, we were able to turn a concrete foundation into a house with a roof within one week. Building a house and working alongside the family members and neighbors was an experience I will never forget.
St. Innocent Orphanage is a home for abandoned and abused boys, located in Rosarito, Mexico. Project Mexico opened the doors to the Orphanage in September 1996 and has been fostering a supportive and well-rounded environment for orphaned boys ever since.
