BENEFITING: St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
For decades, the distinctive red doors of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in downtown Portland have been a welcoming beacon for those who are hungry in body or in spirit. The church is host to the Clay Street Table organization, which provides more than 3,000 meals per month through its meals and pantry programs. Other programs that call St. Stephen's home include the Underground, which serves homeless and at-risk youth, Operation Nightwatch, which provides safety and companionship for those who are not able to be indoors after dark, and HomePDX, which socially supports those in need across downtown Portland.
Sadly, the doors that have for so long been ready to open for those in need are starting to show their age. In order to continue to provide meals and support to our friends on the streets and in transitional housing, we need to outfit them with new "panic bar" fasteners that will allow them to be opened from the inside when locked, to ensure safe egress in case of fire. Any unexpected expense can be a blow to a small organization like St. Stephen's, and so we are asking for your help! Any amount, even a dollar or two, will help us to continue to welcome and serve the members of our community.
Thank you for considering us!
