BENEFITING: Shepherd Center
EVENT DATE: Mar 23, 2014
On March 23, 2014, I will be running 26.2 miles in the Georgia Marathon in Atlanta. I am running to raise money and awareness for Shepherd's SHARE Military Initiative. I want to support our troops who put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms of our great country. I believe it is critical to give these heroic men and women the best care possible. Together, we can raise funds, generate awareness and provide support to the many troops returning home with severe injuries.
I am asking you to support and sponsor me as I race to raise money for the SHARE Military Initiative. I want to ensure that other survivors of catastrophic injuries have the necessary resources to find their way back to a life where they are able to function as independently as possible.
The SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center provides rehabilitation and community-based care to U.S. military service members who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program utilizes Shepherd's full rehabilitation continuum of evaluation and treatment services for those who have sustained brain injury from IED blasts, a fall or training. SHARE provides assistance, support, and education under one program to service members and their families during their recovery treatment and beyond.
I am choosing to support Shepherd Center because of my own rehabilitation experience. In 2008, I suffered a near fatal brain stem stroke. I was so fortunate to be able to recover from my injuries at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Shepherd was a vital part of my recovery and helped me to rebuild my mind, body and spirit as well as to regain my independence. It has been a long road back but today I am blessed to be doing amazingly well.
Please consider a donation on my behalf to Shepherd Center's SHARE Military Initiative and support OUR TROOPS. A contribution in any amount will be a valuable and appreciated addition to our effort. Together we will make a difference! Thank you.
I believe Shepherd Center is the best place in the world!
