Help Teach a Kid
Organized by: The Philippines Foundation
EVENT DATE Sep 28, 2015
We hold the power. The power to create real change in the lives of so many children desperate to get an education. Let's band together and create the most impactful video to share with the United Nations along with a petition of 10 million signatures to show how we're 10 million strong fighting for the voices that aren't heard, the books that are ripped and faded, the lights in the schools that are dark. Let's give for those who need this the most. Let's sign to give children around the world a way to empower themselves and their communities.

Pictures say a 1,000 words no matter what language you speak, so we’re making a short film to push the global message of Education. 2015 marks the end of a 15-year initiative to provide an education for all children, but there are still 59 million primary-aged kids out of school around the world. This year we want our voices heard. We’re 8.5 million now but we want to be 10 MILLION STRONG when we present our short film and petition to the United Nations this September. Join the movement. Stand #UpForSchool.
About the Film
“No school today.” Three words that are sure to bring a smile to the face of any child that has spent the majority of their days in a classroom. You see the reaction of these kids, elated to have a day free of desks and pencils and reading assignments. One after another, they leap from bed to learn what adventure the day will bring.
But then it evolves. It becomes something very raw, very real, maybe a little unnerving. Something unexpected happens, a dramatic shift from familiar, comfortable reactions to the disheveled faces for whom the words "no school today" doesn’t compute. That statement means nothing to the children who spend their days laboring in factories, caring for ill family members, or searching the streets for food. Each face you see is a real child who views their circumstances not as unfortunate or underpriveleged, but normal. TThis will arrest our attention and inspire the world to stand #UpForSchool.
