Hi everyone! My name is Sofia, and I moved to New York about 3 years ago, and I am originally from Ukraine and I go to Stony Brook School in Long Island. Many of you may know that Ukraine is going through a lot of corruption and economy-related problems. The school I used to attend when living in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine hosts several trips to an orphanage for children who have Celebral Palsy. We bring toys, toiletries and things of need to the children including foods that they like, but that the orphanage does not provide, as well as making small concerts with musical, dance and theater performances. Unfortunately, the condition that the children live in is totally unacceptable. The corrupt head of the orphanage gives even less of the minimum to the children, and takes good stuff only for their own kids that are well. The building is totally anti sanitary, and local politicians are corrupt and the kids never get the things that should be received from the government. I decided to help my friends and former classmates to solve this case in some way. We want to raise funds for medicine and treatment for the children, as well as for the equipment that will simplify their routine. Furthermore, we want to raise some money for renovations in the building.
