Choices Advocacy started in 1994 working with adults with a learning disability in South West Hampshire and Southampton. In 2012 Connect Advocacy joined Choices advocacy adding Fareham, Gosport and Portsmouth and in 2014 Choices Advocacy started working in the East Hampshire Area. Choices Advocacy is a founding member of the Hampshire Advocacy Regional Group (HARG) and works to promote advocacy practice of the highest standard. Choices Advocacy is a locally based charity whose trustees all live in Hampshire. Some trustees have used advocacy and person centred planning services provided by Choices and some trustees have volunteered as Choices advocates. This helps Choices Advocacy to be in touch with what local people want. Choices Advocacy is helped by local volunteers. We also have student social workers and learning disability nurses from 4 Universities working with us. Without them we could not support as many people as we do.
