Help bella get surgery
Organized by: ashley lawson
A couple of days ago (monday) I found the cutest puppy ever hiding on the side of my apartment building, shaking and wet from the rain. I immediately took her in and gave her a well needed bath. Then went to a local pet store to purchase her food. I've asked everyone in the area if they knew the owner of this dog. Unfortunately I was unable to find the owner and didn't want to take her to a shelter. Thursday afternoon I notice she seemed to be limping and didn't want to go for a walk. I knew something wasn't right because Monday - Wedsnesday she was super playful , i took her for several walks a day . I immediately contacted the local animal hospital and scheduled a visit. I was asked for shot records but didn't have them because I wasn't the owner. So a check up was mandatory. Everything seemed fine with her to me so I didn't understand what was wrong. She's approximately a year old and only 3 and a half pounds. Super playful and sweet. She does have scars from stitches , the doctor said it looks like she was spayed . The doctor informed me that she has Grade 3 Luxating Patella in two of her legs. I've never owned a dog so I didn't know what that meant. I was basically told that her knees were bad and she needs surgery before it gets worse. It made more since once I saw her x-rays. I was in shock of why someone would leave her out in the cold but I knew it was probably because they couldn't afford her surgery. I was in formed to give her glucosamine and chondroiton supplements and maintain her at a healthy weight. The estimated cost of the surgery for each leg is from $1500-$3500 per leg depending on how severe it is . That's a possible $7000 all together . She will continue to be in pain if she doesn't get surgery. It will worsen overtime. I've used my last bit of money towards food , toys and her vet check up. I am a college student . I have several hundred dollars saved up for my school books but I'm willing to put that towards her surgery. I can't stand to see her in pain , I've decided to keep her since no one claimed her. She needs surgery soon. Please help! It doesn't matter how little you can donate anything counts!
