Cancer doesn't play fair.
Cancer comes at you alone, in the dark, slowly.
It robs you of your hopes and dreams.
But, we're not going to let that happen. We will fight and bring it out into the light. And, then, chase it away. FOR GOOD!
How can you help? We're so glad you asked.
We did not ask cancer to visit.
It just showed up.
And the plan is, to show it to the curb.
Currently, we are raising money to offset what is coming our way: medical bills. Lots of them.
While insured, we are self-insured and with catastrophic coverage, including a very high deductible, and out-of-pocket maximum, so that we can manage to afford the monthly premiums. Hoping, nothing like this would ever happen to us.
The biggest blessing we could have, outside of eradicating cancer is to not be saddled with medical debt upon debt that we simply cannot pay. What we need, is relief from that stress.
Cancer is hard enough to fight.
Any amount is appreciated.
9/30/14 Update: After a 3rd surgery, the colostomy was reversed and the current strategy is to undergo monitoring and alternative treatments. Current bloodwork and scans show no detectable indications of cancer. We call that CANCER FREE! We're still having to fight to stay cancer free, but this is GREAT NEWS!
10/13/14 Update: When it rains it pours. Laid off from work this month. No warning. This, of course, intensifies the financial need during an already difficult time. We were totally unprepared for this turn of events. Just when we thought we'd crossed the finish line w/ the cancer gone...Thank you for your support.
11/25/14 Update: Another diagnosis: Sleep Apnea & RLS. But, the good news is that these can be mitigated! And, correcting them will only improve the odds of beating cancer. So, we will be GRATEFUL for the discovery!
12/15/14 Update: We were able to secure insurance via Healthcare.gov. Given our current unemployed status, this greatly reduces our out-of-pocket expenses (for now) for 2015. This will change with employment. And, it still does not cover medical costs not covered by insurance. But, it is a huge relief for us. Feeling very grateful!
THE GOAL: Our goal is to raise $25,000 between now and June, 2015, enough to see us through the first year - and what we hope is the last year- of treatment. This will pay off our outstanding medical bills from 2014, will pay for new ones in 2015, and will pay for alternative treatments in 2015 (which are not covered by insurance, but are life saving).
Yes, it's that expensive. Even with insurance.
But, we believe in raising the support, one dollar at a time..... While many have donated large sums for which we are so grateful, please know that small donations of even $25 are a huge blessing to us. Thank you!
Thank you... for your help.
Together... we can beat this thing.
Oh, and one more thing.....
If you are the praying kind, remember us in your prayers.... They really help.
And, let us know how we can return the favor....
