MATTRESS FIRM FOUNDATION wrote -In April 2012, many of the Houston Mattress Firm employees had the opportunity to meet Tina and participate in a fundraising race for her. Today, we're sharing Tina's story with you.
During Thanksgiving 2011, Tina was dealing with some traumatizing news: she had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to her liver.
After feeling unnaturally fatigued for a while, Ober visited a series of doctors and found out after undergoing several tests that she had too many lesions to count. The news hit her the hardest when her doctor told her that though they didn’t need to buy a tombstone just yet, they should probably not buy a birthday cake.
After four months, her cancer had gone into remission, something extremely rare for pancreatic cancer patients. In late November 2012, right before Thanksgiving, Tina found out that her liver which had previously been cleared, was showing some small lesions once again, while her pancreas remained clear.
She continued with a different chemotherapy treatment and last week Tina had her second round of the new treatment and also began experiencing terrible stomach pain. Last Thursday night, Tina's birthday, she was admitted to Methodist Hospital for her pain.
Tina underwent an operation yesterday, January 15th and not only are well wishes needed, but your support as well. Tina is mom of three kids and as you can see from her pictures, she is young and full of life. I implore you to help us raise money to ease the burden of her medical bills so that she can focus on beating pancreatic cancer and not about finances. Any amount is appreciated.
