Help UCLA La Raza Attend The NLLSA Conference
Organized by: UCLA La Raza
The La Raza Law Students Association (“La Raza”) is a student-run organization at UCLA School of Law. We request your support in sending a delegation of our student members to the 19th Annual National Latino/a Law Students Association (“NLLSA”) Conference and Moot Court Competition taking place in Chicago, Illinois.
The NLLSA Conference celebrates Latino/a law students from across the country and shows students how they can be strong, effective leaders, individually and collectively. Additionally, through speaker panels, networking opportunities, and a career fair, students will leave with contacts and strategies to strengthen and empower themselves and their communities. La Raza has long been a supporter and two-time host of the NLLSA Conference; unfortunately, we have been unable to send a delegation of law students to a NLLSA Conference for the past two years due to budgetary constraints. However, La Raza is now trying to reverse that trend. This year, La Raza hopes to send a delegation of student members to attend the conference, including two moot court teams that will compete in the 8th Annual NLLSA Moot Court Competition. We believe that this participation will promote the continued development of a tight knit minority legal community that supports the next generation of Latino/a legal professionals. However, to make La Raza’s participation in this year’s conference a reality, we need your help and humbly seek your financial support. All donations will go towards NLLSA Conference registration fees, Moot Court Competition participation fees, lodging costs, and travel costs.
The 8th Annual NLLSA Moot Court Competition will take place over two days, October 1-2, at Northwestern University School of Law and Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Our teams will have the opportunity to argue in front of moot court judges across various practices, including Judge Advocate Generals, criminal and civil law practitioners and appellate attorneys, and sitting State and Federal Judges. They are already preparing their briefs and will begin preparing for oral arguments soon.
La Raza owes much of our success to a supportive legal community. Many of our achievements and diverse programming have been made possible because of the generosity of individuals like you. We once again ask you to pledge your support for the continued efforts of the La Raza Law Students Association. All donors will be recognized with great gratitude at our Annual Alumni Dinner. Thank you very much!
