Help Us Keep Our Habitat Home.
Organized by: David Brefka
Hi, My wife Nicole & I, David, are really struggling financially. I’ve been unemployed for over a year and a half and my wife is currently not working either. It is not for lack of looking and applying for jobs. Since last November, 2013 I’ve applied for 33 jobs, I’ve keep a record, and have had only 1 interview, but that didn’t pan out. My wife has applied for over 15 jobs since being laid off in June, 2014.
To supplement our income we do Yard sales, Ebay, Secret Shopper, Exit Interview Surveys and other part-time opportunities as they become available. Nicole does Date Night Child Care and House Cleaning when those occasions arise.
I’m 60 and believe this is the main reason I’ve been unable to secure a decent paying job. So, I removed my College graduation date and that I was a Vietnam Veteran from my resume. We are in good health and have a great attitudes, intelligent and Nicole & I are college educated, but things are getting pretty dicey.
We are 2 months behind on our mortgage & auto payments as well as all our other bills. We barely have enough money to buy food. I just cleaned out our freezer in the basement which is now empty. Fortunately, the yard sales have provided enough money to keep food on the table. We’ve been eating a lot of potatoes, rice and chicken plus vegetables that we have grown ourselves; thankfully we are pretty creative and keep it interesting.
We have had some help so far, the church we attend paid for 2 months of our mortgage earlier this year and just this week a longtime friend sent me $500. Our plight is real and though we have received help from our church and friend they won’t be able to give us any more.
$10,000 would catch us up and give us about a 3 month buffer as we continue to look for work.
Thank You. We pray that all those who generously give to us will be abundantly blessed.
