The Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) builds the leadership of Black immigrant and African American communities through education, advocacy and direct action. Often, concerns regarding immigration status are a barrier to participation for non-citizen immigrants. Lack of access to affordable, culturally responsive legal services is silencing these rapidly growing communities and their needs often go ignored.
BAJI will build people power by serving the people's interest. Similar to the Black Panther Party method of serving community needs as a means to address obstacles to participation in other activities, BAJI services will build trust and offer directly affected people defense against exploitation, creating stronger communities.
We are deeply committed to this cause. Over the last year, BAJI local organizing committees and key members of the Black Immigration Network (BIN) – an alliance of 35 local organizations working within Black immigrant communities – have begun to develop the capacity to provide community based legal services. Help us raise $15,000 that will enable BAJI to to establish programs in ten Black immigrant communities across the country and help provide nearly 100 families relief, stability, and security, by meeting their immigrant service needs.
BAJI is a national advocacy organization with offices in Oakland, New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
