Hello friend: we've launched a crowdfunding campaign in hopes of raising $15,000 to support our scholarship and teacher recognition programs in 2016. This year, we hope to welcome 10 new scholarship recipients and 10 teacher honorees. In just two years of operating, the Daniel Trust Foundation has pledged $30,000 in scholarships and $10,000 has been awarded to 15 scholarship recipients who are attending prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Yale University and UC Berkeley. Our students are from 4 different states: California, Connecticut, Georgia, and New York. One of the special things that sets us apart from other scholarship programs is that, when students apply to our scholarship program, we ask them to nominate a teacher who has made a huge difference in their lives and has gone above and beyond to help them succeed in school and in their personal lives.
To date, we've honored 9 teachers, all nominated by our students, and have awarded $4,500 in cash prizes to these teachers, in support of their efforts. In order for us to continue making a difference in the lives of the students we support and the teachers/educators that help them succeed in life, our operating budget for 2016 is $105,000. That means, we need to raise $105,000 to be able to continue supporting our students and teachers in 2016. A generous donor, has pledged to contribute $28,000 to our programs, which brings the total we need to raise in 2016 to $77,000.
