Teach a man to fish
Organized by: Regions Career Center
Regions Career Center is a Non-Profit Organization. Its mission is to promote economic self-sufficiency through employment and career training services. Regions Career Center has several programs that seek to assist low-skilled, low-income community residents by empowering them with the knowledge, skills and training needed to become employed.
Our occupational training program includes over 17 career training classes. The programs will run for 16 consecutive weeks. Our Career Service dept. will provide workshops for students that will include resume writing, dress for success, development of soft skills, externship placement, graduation ceremony, and assist in job placement,
Regions Career Center is looking for individuals, foundations, or corporations, who are interested in helping us, help low-income and no- income residents succeed in providing for their families.
We have found a facility that is perfect for starting the Career training center, but we need help getting started. Our goal is to raise enough capital to train students free of charge, purchase and renovate a faculty, buy equipment, furniture, materials, supplies, textbooks, uniforms for the students, and money to pay administrative expenses for two years.
Our future goal is to partner with WIA (Workforce Investment Act) for ongoing financial support for students. This program will pay tuition for students who enroll in occupational training programs. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration. In order for us to partner with WIA the school has to be in operation for 12 months and have documented proof that our programs have helped students find employment.
Our plan of action is to empower low-income families and unemployed individuals with the skills needed to stay employed for a lifetime. Any donation helps and will be greatly appreciated, all donors will be featured on our website. All students who graduate from the program will also be featured on the website.
