BENEFITING: MICHAEL J FOX FOUNDATION FOR PARKINSONS RESEARCH
EVENT DATE: Mar 03, 2013
I am an 18 year old student currently in the final year of the IB program. I used to do a lot of sports but lost interest and didn't prioritize much physical activity. The CAS (Creativity, Action Service) program is an essential part of the IB Diploma, which cannot be passed without achieving 50 hours of creative, active and socially engaged work. A 'CAS Project' must also be completed, and for this I am going to the run the Semi-Marathon in Paris on the 3rd of March 2013. I won't only personally benefit from the physical health i rejuvenate through the training, but will ask for donations to help cure Parkinsons.
A few years ago my grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinsons. The journey I have seen him on has been horrible. To see the slow, both physically crippling progressive neurological condition take over not only my grandfathers life, but also that of my grandmother, has made me want to give something back to them. Therefore I will be donating all money raised to the 'Michael J. Fox Foundation', which I believe to be pushing forward aggressively in the search for a cure.
