Each year our family participates in the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon. A lot of miles pass under our feet as we try to burn some calories and get healthy. In addition we participate with the Red Cross Rescue Racers to earn funds to support our local Red Cross.
An average of 91 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. Everything they do depends on the needs of the people that we serve.
Check out these facts- In response to the South Carolina 1,000-year rain event that flooded most of the state of South Carolina in October 2015, the American Red Cross:
--Distributed over 154,000 hot meals and snacks working with our community partners
--Provided over 4,700 overnight shelter stays --Handed out more than 181,000 relief items (cleaning kits, comfort kits, shovels, etc.)
--45 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV’s) went into local communities to assist residents
--Provided nearly 7,000 health and mental health services
--More than 1,700 volunteers and workers from within South Carolina and around the country were deployed to South Carolina to help our local families, friends and neighbors.
Please help us reach our goal. You will be helping a great cause and our community.
