THE HERITAGE HEALTH AND WELLNESS FESTIVAL A WAY TO GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY The Louis Diene Foundation in collaboration with Kevin Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on promoting health and wellness awareness, local sustainability & environmental responsibility in our community and on educating families about the importance of healthy lifestyles and promoting culture as education tool and as means of communication between individuals and generation, need your help to provide free admission, services, free lunches for volunteers and attendees The theme of this free public event is Treasure your Health: Destination Set for a Healthy Lifestyle and will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 12 pm to 8 pm at College Park Community Center, 5051 Pierce Avenue, College Park, MD 20740. The event is free and open to the public and will attract f participants of all ages and demographics who make major health, wellness, food and fitness decisions to improve their lives. Attendees will come from different of ethnic, social and economic backgrounds with an interest in learning, experiencing, trying and buying health related products and services. The festival will also feature ideas, solutions, hands-on demonstrations, children activities, International healthy foods, free samples, lectures and entertainment. Local and national organizations will host a variety of educational and service-based booths that provide free health screenings, products and services to individuals interested in leading healthier lifestyles. The objectives of the festival are: To increase health awareness and disease prevention by providing health screenings and educational information To inspire, encourage and motivate individuals to embrace a life of health, wellness, fitness, environmental and green living through awareness of natural, and organic products, nutrition, exercise and lifelong benefits of living a healthy lifestyle To provide free health screenings in order to decrease the risk of preventable diseases and positively impact family health habits To educate individuals on safety issues To increase public awareness and understanding of the determinants of health, disease and disability; to share information on achieving health equity, eliminating disparities and improving the health of all groups To increase awareness of local, state and national health services and resources Teach Self-care practices To recognize community leaders in the community (Community Leadership Awards) To celebrate community heritage, encourage young people to get involved in heritage activities To promote culture and to help build an understanding through the exchange of people, ideas and arts by featuring from the Washington Metropolitan Area (DC-MD-VA) 13 emerging Fashion Designers,10 performers/artists/poets, fitness and dance instructors/groups, kids’ activities and international food/drinks To become the platform where business connects with culture and community To Increase economic development of fashion designers, clothing merchandising and modeling and to embrace the visibility of the DC Metropolitan Area as a center of International Fashion. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL Your contribution is used to provide free admission and services for attendees. Our hope is to help families of Prince George County residents and visitors to the services, information, and resources available and necessary to make positive strides toward healthier lives.
