Mentor Management would like to raise funds to build a dinning Hall for Heritage of Faith & Hope Centre.
When Joseph and Teresiah started helping street children, they never knew how seriously big and developing this project could get. Here are the most important milestones in the history of Ho&FH. 2002 Joseph and Teresiah identified a group of young boys and girls, who were sleeping and living in the streets of Nairobi. Touched by their unbearable circumstances, the couple decided to begin ministering to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Teresiah started cooking for these young ones. She inspired them by praying, to try building relationships. After spending a few months feeding them, Joseph and Teresiah decided to relocate 38 of them from the streets. In a 12 room facility on the outskirts of the city (Mlolongo Township along Nairobi— Mombasa Highway) the couple housed them. Catching a vision for what God could accomplish, Joseph and Teresiah officially registered Heritage of Faith and Hope Children’s Home and hired a few individuals to care for and rehabilitate them. Little resources but big hearts, Joseph and Teresiah used the profits from their meat business to fund their growing children’s home. As the timing was perfect, generous partners and friends stepped in and began helping to provide for their needs – mattresses and beddings, food, rent etc. 2005 The assistance from a family from the U.S.A, the children were relocated from the 12 roomed plot to a 33-roomed facility. 2015 At present Joseph and Teresiah Waweru serve as caregivers and vouch for around 120 children. But it’s more than just give them shelter, food and everything else. It is love and the feeling of having a family what makes this home so special and the kids so thankful and happy. In February the Children’s home is being renovated. Joseph and Teresiah have been raising as much money for building a third floor, enlarging the living space for all the children and care takers. Therefore Heritage’s own primary school will be therefore relocated from Mlolongo to the Home itself.
PROJECT LOCATION Heritage is located at Mlolongo, off Mombasa Road, Athi River, Kenya. The home has six twelve-bedded rooms each for boys and girls, a bathing area, two green houses, a stable with cows, a number of chicken, ducks, goats, sheep and Pigs, an Mpesa shop, three tabs for catching water, a kitchen and an office (stock for the food).
VISION: To give a home and hope to Orphans and Vulnerable Children
