THE STORY:

Hi my name is Alea & I wanted to start a charity to raise money to support drug awareness/ heroin awareness. Heroin is a hugh epidemic in America. It is cheap & extremely easy to obtain. I know this from experence. I'm not a heroin addict, but have lost many loved one's due to heroin. My mother & father were both heroin addicts. I was a young child taking care of my little brothers so my parents could get high. This was normal to me as a child. My father was the 1st person I lost due to heroin. It was 18yrs ago when I was an 11yr old girl. He was clean for about 8 months when he fell off the wagon. He took a dose he would normally take, but since he was clean for awhile it killed him instantly. His friends left him there in his apartment to die. He wasn't found til the next day. I was extremely close to my father, closer to him then my siblings were. I was devastated. I was in the 5th grade & in the dare program at the time. But to ashamed to tell my story then. When I was 14 & 15yrs old I lost 3 more people to heroin in that time spand. My dads best friends who he grew up with that I called all uncle were takenfrom us due to heroin. Last year when I was 28yrs old in June of 2011 I lost my little brother to a heroin overdose one month before his 27th birthday. He was with a couple of his friends when he had died. His friend who had left him had overdosed before & my mother & brother called for help & saved his life. He didn't return the favor. My brother's body wasn't found for 36hrs. He was clean for a few months & just got out of rehab when he fell off the wagon. He died in St. Louis Missouri. It was very traumatic for our family. He struggled with his addiction for 6yrs. My mother is still alive. She has been sober for 4yrs now. She had struggled with her addiction for over 20yrs. She got so bad with her addiction that she resorted to shooting up in her neck cause she could no longer find a vain. She layed on the kitchen floor crying one night & bleeding from all the pricks cause she could no longer find a place to shoot up. By the grace of God & devine intervention my mother went to prison not long later. Prison saved her life. We now have a very close relationship. I want to make a difference in peoples lives. I start bible school soon, going to become an ordained minister. Jesus wasn't given to the rich or well off. He was given to the sinners, weak, sick, poor, & struggling. I hope to open up a center where people with addiction can go to for help & support. Also a place where people who have lost loved ones can go to for understanding & support. I hope to raise money to make shirts to support awareness. I want the money to go to local rehabilitation centers & to support drug awareness. I'm getting ready to set up a website threw facebook for my cause. There are currently websites set up threw facebook done threw missouri on the heroin epidemic. They are called "Heroin epidemic so many loved ones lost" & "Heroin survivors yes they really do exist". They hold rallys up in Missouri. I hope to get some rallys started up here in colorado as well. I think this charity can save lives & help people who are struggling & give others understanding. Thank you for hearing my story, I hope people can donate to my charity. Every little bit helps & will mean even more to others.
