How do you say, "I'm sorry for your loss" to a child? Thanks to help from public donations and people across the country, Hero's Rock hopes to show our nations appreciation for those who serve and protect; our armed forces, police and fire departments with special gifts for the ones who suffer the greatest loss....the children!
Hero's Rock works with the family of the fallen hero to hand craft a wooden custom tribute rocker (or treasured chest) that not only shows who their loved one was, but also what they stood for! Each rocker includes an etched wood portrait of their loved one at a child's level.
The news often tells of these tragic losses and we all wish there was something we could do.....Hero's Rock hopes to bring joy to a child in a time of sadness, while showing the family that people from all across the country send their love and support! We hope these precious gifts will some day become a treasured heirloom that shows our nations appreciation for those who put their lives on the line to protect us all!
Hero's Rock has also designed a custom memorial rocker named "The Patriotic Pony", which is a red, white and blue rocking horse painted of hands of love. This special series is made specificly for Fisher Houses across the country. A Fisher House is much like a Ronald McDonald house, providing free housing for families supporting a severly injured or ill military family member. Each Patriotic Pony pays tribute to a different fallen; Airman, Seaman, Marine or Soldier, killed in action, training, or PTSD. Each also has an etched portrait of that hero and is accompanied by a book which celebrates the lives of these fallen. These special rockers are meant to bring joy to the children, while sending a message of love and support to the family and helps fullfil our promise to never forget the fallen.
Hero's Rock is a small 501(c)3 non-profit charity with no paid employees. Funds are used for building, decorating and delivery of these special gifts. What we do is very sensitive and thus we rely on word of mouth to spread our mission.
Hero's Rock traveled last fall across 21 states, a total of 10,060 miles delivering 18 rocking horses to Fisher Houses across the west coast in 56 days. Gas alone for this trip was $5,000.
Hero's Rock has 13 rockers to deliver this fall; 10 Patriotic Ponies for Fisher Houses across the east coast, 2 Polar Bear rockers for the daughter of fallen Air Force Sgt. Peter Taub, killed in Afghanistan December of 2015 and 1 police car rocker for fallen Baton Rouge Police Officer Montrell Jackson's son. Officer Montrell was killed in an ambush July 2016.
Your donation will help make these deliveries and hopefully help us continuing to make more of these precious gifts. Thank you for your consideration and please help us spread the word!
