BENEFITING: THE HERREN PROJECT
ORGANIZER: THE HERREN PROJECT
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Friends and family: On April 17, 2017 I have the honor to run this years Boston Marathon for The Herren Project. As many of you know I lost my younger brother Ryan to an accidental drug overdose a little over five years ago. He spent the last 10 years of his life struggling with the terrible disease of addiction which is unfortunately far too familiar a story for many individuals and families across the country. A day does not go by that I do not think of Ryan, the smiling, funny person that he was and all of the things he could have continued on to do in his life. He left us far too soon at only 26. Since his passing, my family and I have started a small non profit in his name. We give funds to various youth sports organizations in Somerville MA, help those struggling with addiction and recovery and hold clothing and food drives for those who are in need. Our small foundation has been inspired from the beginning by Chris Herren, his message and the hard work of his organization's members. Its been a long term goal of mine to help spread awareness for the cause while giving back to The Herren Project by fundraising and running for their Marathon team. I feel honored to have been given this opportunity and grateful for any and all contributions.
