BENEFITING: THE HERREN PROJECT
ORGANIZER: THE HERREN PROJECT
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
My name is Karissa Murphy and I am a Hanson resident. I have recently fulfilled my long-term dream of becoming a nurse. I graduated from Signature-Healthcare Brockton Hospital School of Nursing this past May. I’m currently an Orthopedic Nurse at Signature-Healthcare Brockton Hospital. This year I get to have the privilege of running the 2017 Boston Marathon for The Herren Project. This will be my very first marathon and I’m extremely excited to be able to run it in front of all my friends and family. Running the Boston Marathon has always been a dream of mine and I get the chance to fulfill that goal. The best part about running the Boston Marathon this year is being able to run for a cause I deeply care about, The Herren Project.
The Herren Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 2011. The Herren Project is a foundation that wants to help individuals and families that are affected by substance abuse. Substance abuse is becoming very common here in the South Shore of Massachusetts. With the help of this organization we can make a difference. The Herren Project is dedicated to providing treatment navigation to families affected. Cash donations will be used for treatment navigation for individuals and families, online support groups for grief, family, relapse prevention, transitional aged, and wellness recovery. The money will also go to mentoring and recovery coaching after treatment is complete, scholarships to clinics and camps for kids. Most importantly the money will go to prevention education and scholarships when a need is demonstrated.
In order to run the Boston Marathon I have to raise $7,500.00 for The Herren Project. I’m asking if you would be willing to sponsor me. No matter how small a donation, it will make a difference. The smallest amount can make a huge impact for an individual or family who are suffering due to substance abuse. I’m looking for the chance to raise the money and to bring awareness to substance abuse and how we as a community can help people who suffer. No matter the amount, it is truly and greatly appreciated.
