More than 1.9 million people in Illinois are facing hunger. It’s true – and it’s unacceptable. Our state's lawyers are stepping up to the challenge. Thanks to the leadership of Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) President John E. Thies and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, the legal community is mobilizing to raise a million meals to help our state's hungry families.
Your support goes a long way to help us reach our ambitious goal because every $1 you donate will provide 5 meals! To put this in perspective, just $50 provides 250 meals. It gives me goose bumps every time I think of how efficiently each donation will be used toward providing meals for those in need.
All donations may be made online (see below) or by sending a check to our team leader in our Chicago office, Maura Yusof. Please feel free to contact her at 312.853.8700 or email her at email@example.com for further instructions. Of course, we will ensure you receive a receipt for your qualifying tax deductible donation.
How to Donate:
1. Click "DONATE to this fundraiser" on the right side of your screen and follow the prompts.
2. Most people donate in their own name or in their organization’s name, which appears on the roster of donations. However, you may simply type anonymous if you prefer to make an anonymous donation. You will receive your receipt for tax purposes at the email that you designate.
3. Note that a "TIP" is added by the website provider (Crowdrise) at the end of the online form, but you are free to edit the tip before you select confirm by clicking the highlighted "TIP" box and editing it as you please.
How it works: Lawyers Feeding Illinois begins February 18th, 2013 and ends March 1st, 2013. All donors should note that 100% of all donations will support a regional food bank, so your contribution directly supports your local community. Learn more about the food bank serving your area here.
Teams of lawyers, firms like Heyl Royster, law schools, and other legal organizations compete for points by collecting monetary and food donations during the campaign. At the end of the campaign, winners will be declared in several award categories. Here is how points will be awarded: (Learn more about why we award points this way.)
1 point is given for every pound of food collected.
5 points are given for every $1 raised.
Check the website link above occasionally for an update on our team's progress toward our goal! We only have until March 1st to meet our goal so please forward this message to all your friends, colleagues and family who may be willing to donate any amount to help feed those in need in our Illinois communities.
