Can you imagine being a hungry, frightened dog living behind a dumpster
when you are picked up by animal control to wait in a cramped cage until
you’re euthanized? Or after being someone’s loyal companion for most
of your life – you’re surrendered to a high-kill shelter because your medical
treatment is too costly? According to the ASPCA, four million dogs nationwide enter
animal shelters annually and over 30% are of these dogs are euthanized.
Home For Good Dog Rescue deals with these heart-wrenching scenarios every
day and we have made it our mission to give these dogs a second chance at life.
We are a volunteer-based 501(c) (3) non-profit animal rescue that operates out of
Berkeley Heights, NJ. We rescue homeless dogs from high-kill shelters in the
South, transport them to our rescue in New Jersey and nurture them in our network
of foster families, until they are adopted into their loving homes for good. Our
rescue is unique because we are 100% foster based- we have NO shelter.
Regardless how long it takes, Home for Good ensures that our dogs are kept in
loving homes until they are adopted.
Since we were established in 2010, we have rescued over 3,400 dogs, but we
continue to witness tragedy along the way. We focus our attention on rescuing dogs
from high-kill shelters in the South where the euthanasia rate is 86%, almost three
times the national average. Low spay/neuter rates in these areas result in a severe
overpopulation problem. Dogs are destroyed daily by lethal injection or gas
chambers, because they had the misfortune of ending up in an overcrowded high-
It costs Home for Good $675 to rescue each dog and adopt them into their forever home. The $340 fee we charge adopters only partially covers these costs. Home for Good is only able to continue saving lives of these innocent dogs through the donations from people like you who share our vision. Here are examples of what your donation will buy:
- $180 spay/neuter to help tackle the dog overpopulation problem
- $150 basic medicines/vaccines to ensure the dog is healthy
- $125 transporting a dog from a high-kill shelter in the South to our rescue in New Jersey
- $ 75 shelter pull fees
- $50 costs associated with foster care
- $35 ID/ microchipping each dog
Please consider supporting the work of Home for Good so we can continue our mission of finding forever homes for these innocent dogs. If you want to learn more about our rescue, go to: homeforgooddogs.org.
