The Hudson Highlands Land Trust offers a free environmental education enrichment program, Hudson Highlands Regional River of Words Program, to the five public schools in its mission area. HHLT's River of Words program provides kids with a means to transform their experiences and observations on nature into poetry and art. Land Trust educators also work with teachers to help them develop strategies to regularly use the outdoors as a learning laboratory for all aspects of student curriculum. HHLT's ROW program also hosts Creative SPLASH!, an annual exhibition each April celebrating the imaginative and moving work of our student poets and artists in the Hudson Highlands. Funds raised will go directly toward student in-class workshops and field studies, teacher training sessions, and our Creative SPLASH! event. These programs offer valuable environmental and arts enrichment to budget-strapped pubilc schools, enriching the experience of students and helping them understand the importance of environemental stewardship.
