I have been selected to become a Startingbloc Fellow. In order to participate in this very exciting program. I have to raise $1000 by December 20.
A few years ago, I traveled to India to work on a service project in a rural town of Rajasthan. At that time, I knew little about social enterprise. During this trip, I stumbled upon a little gem of a book, that has transformed the way that I look at the world today. This book is called: "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid" and it has inspired the way that I understand business and global development. In his book, CK Prahalad shared a powerful idea: that businesses can solve systemic development problems, while empowering, and addressing the needs of the world's poorest, "the bottom billion."
CK Prahalad's book has inspired me to learn more about social enterprise, and to define the direction of my career toward one of greater meaning and value. Ever since, I have worked on different service projects to learn more about the intersection between global development and social business. I have collaborated on an urban renewal project in Rajasthan, India, an environmental conservation project at the DMZ in Korea, and the design for a community center in Lamas, Peru. I have interned at TED Conferences, where I contributed to improving the TED Prize, a powerful platform to promote "a wish to change the world"
Very recently, I was selected for the exciting opportunity to become a Startingbloc Fellow. The program includes a five-day educational workshop focusing on social innovation strategies, including a case study competition, and mentorship with industry leaders. The program empowers young entrepreneurs to collaborate and create social change through business.
In order to participate in this very exciting program, I need to raise $1000 by December 20th.
I invite you to read a brief article by CK Prahalad and to watch a beautiful video by Jacqueline Novogratz.
If you feel inspired, I invite you to donate toward this fundraiser, to help me reach the goal of $1000.
I appreciate your generous love and support.
