Please help by throwing us a few bones! The more donations we collect the better we can serve the animals and residents of the Big Island who need our help, decreasing animal population, intake numbers and euthanasia. Using the money raised, we will be able to expand capabilities and increase the target geographical area by funding and performing additional free spay and neuter services.
The mission of Hawaii Island Humane Society is to prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the bond between humans and animals.
Our organization, established in 1965, is serving the Big Island community with our services: Shelter for homeless, stray, injured, lost and abandoned animals, animal adoptions, Humane Education Programs for children and administration and promotion of the Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program.
We have three Hawaii shelters in Kona, Keaau, and Waimea. All provide shelter and adoptions for homeless pets, investigate animal cruelty, and provide sterilization services.
