My name is Nora Peloquin and I served with the Arizona Army National Guard's 1-168th F Co as an Air Traffic Controller for 6 years. I deployed to Speicher, Iraq in 2011 and ended my service as a Specialist (E-4)
I currently live in Phoenix, AZ and work as the Family Readiness Support Assistant for the 198th RSG/RRB/JFHQ/RTI. I am also a REALTOR for Keller Williams Sonoran Living. I have 3 amazing kids who have gone through the entire deployment cycle and all the challenges that come along with deployment.
My transition into the civilian sector not as difficult as it could have been because I joined the military in my 30's. Despite my ease of transition, I can see how difficult the transition could be to those who have only known a military life. I have a strong faith and family so my personal support base has been a tremendous help.
My hobbies include playing sports, softball, basketball and more recently attempting rugby. I love to hike, swim, bike and volunteer for youth programs. The biggest joy I have in my life is spending time with my kids and loved ones.
I am walking in support of Suicide Prevention and Awareness because not a day goes by where I do not think of near and dear friend who have ended their lives because they felt there was no other option or felt there was no one they could turn to for support. There are loved ones in my life who are veterans that struggle with depression and hopelessness daily. Raising money and awareness is a small thing I can do to make sure my lost battle buddies did not die in vain. 22 veteran suicides a day are 22 too many soldiers lost!
Diligently Fighting and Speaking for those who can no longer fight or speak for themselves.
