I served in the Arizona National Guard for six years and was medically discharged in 2014 as a Specialist. I currently reside in Arizona and have for many years, although I still call North Carolina home. I am a proud wife of a combat veteran who is my best friend and constant companion. We have four children and five grandchildren, all of whom my world revolves around. We have an active duty son-in-law and two veteran furbabies in our family as well.
I have been working with veterans in crisis and need for nearly 8 years and am currently seeking further education to be able to make an impact on a grander scale. My professional passion is helping veterans and their families, because we’ve been there, we’ve struggled to find the necessary means to put one foot in front of the other, I know what it means to be in crisis and need and made it through.
I walk this walk in memory of those who have lost the battle of the invisible wounds of war. I walk this walk to raise awareness in the civilian community of how many veterans take their lives because they do not have the sufficient resources. I walk this walk to raise funds to help put those resources into place. I walk this walk because I am grateful that my husband has not given in to those invisible wounds and become one of the 22.
