As a regional, faith-based nonprofit organization, Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries provides service to low-income individuals and families in poverty and crisis in Kenall, Comal, Bandera, Kerr, Gillespie, Medina, Uvalde, and North Bexar counties. The need is great! There are approximately 45,000 impoverished people who need our services!
With the help of trained volunteer Family Mentors from our partner churches, we provide fresh food, diapers, health/hygiene products, clothing, and household items to our neighbors in poverty and crisis. We believe long-term loving relationships are crucial to break the cycle of generational and situational poverty. That is why our mentors visit their assigned family's home every other week - 26 home visits annually - bringing vital resources, the helping hands of the community, and the love of Jesus Christ to their doors. They even have special items for the children to enrich their lives and well-being.
In 2014 we aided 845 families (2,608 individuals) and provided resources, at no charge, to 172 churches and agencies to assist another 18,000+ people in the Texas Hill Country. This is in keeping with our mission: "To help unite and equip the Body of Christ with food, resources, and training necessary to transform our communities and the lives of those in poverty and need throught the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ."
