THE STORY:

HIMALAYAN CATARACT PROJECT INC wrote -

This year, for Giving Tuesday and the Holiday Season, help us restore eyesight to 10,000!

In remote areas of the developing world many children are blinded by cataracts. Tume is one of many of these children. Fortunately she could be helped, but many more are waiting to be treated.

Left untreated, this congenital condition deteriorates over time and when they are old enough to go to school, they are not able to take part like any other child of their age. As their sight deteriorates they often isolate themselves, unable to relate with their friends, becoming a burden for their families.

Blind people who have no access to healthcare like we do in the developed world, are destined to live a difficult life. Additionally, their life expectancy is drastically reduced.

With a simple and inexpensive surgery this problem can be solved for good. This Giving Tuesday and during the Holiday Season, the Himalayan Cataract Project is trying to raise funds to restore 10,000 eyesights.

It takes $25 and a 10 minute surgery for each blinded eye.

THE CHARITY TO RAISE THE MOST ONLINE ON #GIVINGTUESDAY, FROM 12:00AM ET - 11:59:59PM ET, WILL WIN $25,000 FOR THEIR CAUSE - HELP US COMPETE!

In remote areas of the developing world many children are blinded by cataracts. Tume, who is fortunate to have her sight back due to HCP, is one of these children, but there are so many more waiting to be treated.

Left untreated, this congenital condition results in blindness, making it very difficult for these children to lead normal lives and participate in school. They become isolated and become a burden to their families.

Without access to healthcare and adequate nutrition , blind people in remote areas are destined for a life of difficulty, and in fact their life expectancy is drastically reduced.
