Hello! I’m Darius and I’m representing our crew of Hip Hop Dancers in Nakivale settlement.
We’ve learned a lot of dance moves from looking at videos on youtube and other places. We watch on our mobile phones and then try them out when we get together.
But it can actually be difficult to dance sometimes. We play music from our phones or small radios. But they are hard to hear and they don’t always work. It’s hard to dance without music – music gives me the courage to really dance. How do you dance without music?!?
So, my idea is to see if we could get a nice radio for playing music while we dance. We get ideas from other dancers, and we also like to share the moves we’re working on with other people. So a phone with a camera that we can video record and then post our videos online would be really great too.
When the World Refugee Day 5k happens on June 20, the hip hop dance crew will be there. We’re hoping you will support us, too!
