BENEFITING: Navy SEAL Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 28, 2014
here is Dan's Story:
This is a now hiring posting with a twist. I want you to hire me for a day of work plus overtime. I know funny right, well I wanted to break the ice before I ask you for money LOL. No doubt by now you many of you have seen a short fat guy ridding a bike or running around Bellevue wearing clothes way to tight for him. Well on June 29th my high school classmate, wresting team partner, SEAL Teammate, best man and best friend of the past 25-years Franky Choyeski and I will be participating in the Cour D' Alene Ironman. http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/events/americas/ironman/coeur-dalene.aspx#axzz338WFL0RR
Like most warriors who have seen way to much I go through spells of depression, anger, anxiety you name it. I get very irritable and I fall into a deep funk. When this happens my loving wife helps me pick something to do to snap me back to reality for a year or two. She knows my brain, my heart, and the Spartan that lays dormant inside of me. She knows I have to stay busy or my life begins to become harder.
Two years ago I completed the Bataan Death March with a 35lb pack. I lost all the skin and toe nails on my feet, had to 6-IV bags to rehydrate but I found time to reflect and remember. Three years ago I did a 50-mile hike in the Pintler Mountains of Montana with a close friend. No food or water but some of the most amazing scenery and tough climbing you can imagine including being chased off Warren Peak down a 1500 ft cliff unroped when a lighting storm got way to close for comfort. It was an absolutely humbling and amazing experience.
Unfortunately when we came off the mountain I found out that in one day I had lost 10-freinds, teammates and brothers in Afghanistan. A very hard day and a long summer as you imagine. After dealing with that I decided I would do my part to raise enough money for their children to go to college and to help their families when I could.
Since I was raised and believe in working and earning my way in the world so here is what I am asking. If you could hire me and pay me a daily wage to run this race it would be great. Think of it as a guy mowing your lawn or the guy serving your food. Its just me putting one hand, foot, and pedal in front of the other for 14-17 hours. The money will not go to me but rather to the NavySealFund.org a registered 501c (3) Charity http://navysealsfund.org/Donate. There are no board of directors or advertising agencies owned by board members just a few hard working former Frogmen looking after the families of our fallen brothers. No hype, no glory just hard men doing the right thing.
Anyway I appreciate all your time and those of you have sponsored me so far a huge thank you. Demon Bells, Kill Cliff, SealFit, Quote Wizard, Dark Horse Screen Printing. Have a great summer.
