BENEFITING: Historic West Bend Theatre
The Historic West Bend Theatre was purchased by the not for profit Historic Theatre of West Bend board of directors in July of 2017.
The Prologue: The year is 1929. Our scene opens in front of a historic theatre in bustling, downtown West Bend with horse carriages, horses and downtown shoppers. The Historic West Bend Theatre is busy hosting travelling vaudeville acts and silent movies. Then comes the advent of “moving pictures” followed by “talkies” in the year 1934. From then on, the historic West Bend Theatre continues to show modern films and movies until 2006 when it closed down. We need to bring our Historic West Bend Theatre back to life! Citizens young and old from West Bend may have fond memories of watching movies with family and friends, listening to the resounding organ, sharing popcorn with a sweetheart or even recall a first kiss in our historic downtown West Bend Theatre. The Theatre is an icon, an architectural treasure and a shared community memory that we can work together to revive. Imagine:
- A Full menu of live theatre, art performances, cabaret, old movies
- Refreshments and a bar
- A Historic Museum of Memories
- A Live Entertainment venue for all ages
- A flourishing partner to invigorate downtown West Bend
