THE STORY:

I recently committed to taking Off the Mat's Global Seva Challenge of raising $20,000 by Dec.15th to break the cycle of HIV/AIDS in South Africa. Half of the funds will be raised online and half will be raised through events in the SF bay area.

Off the Mat is partnering with six carefully chosen organizations in South Africa that will:
1. Help to halt the HIV epidemic and cycle of poverty through leadership training and holistic education for children.
2. Support AIDS orphans and at-risk youth with shelter, healthcare and nutrition.
3. Build a new bakery in Cape Town that will employ locals and supply nutritious bread to HIV patients. Not just any bread. Nutritious bread.

If I reach my goal of raising $20,000 by December 15th, I will travel to South Africa in February 2011 for 2 weeks on the Bare Witness Tour to work directly with the organizations and children that are supported by this fundraising. I will keep a blog and document my experiences through writing and photography, so those who support me in this endeavor can see the direct impact of their donations.

DONATE TO THIS CAUSE AND I'LL BE EXTRA NICE TO PEOPLE!
As part of my campaign, I commit to performing THREE random acts of kindness a day for THREE weeks! This includes things like: paying the toll for the car behind me, writing Thank You letters to people who have had a positive influence in my life, paying an honest compliment to someone who's rude to me (I work in a bar, so it's not hard to find rude people), etc. My EXTRA NICE campaign begins 11/22...I'll update my status every few days to keep you updated on my challenge! Sponsor me now by donating to this cause! Many thanks...

WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE: (besides the obvious reason of wanting to help others)
1. I'LL BE EXTRA NICE TO PEOPLE FOR 3 WEEKS! as stated above
2. It might make you feel good.
3. CrowdRise says if you don't give back, no one will like you. Do you really want to risk it?
