At the Hoefer Law Firm, we believe that everyone deserves to have enough food, a place to live, and basic medical care. One of southeast Iowa's greatest champions of these causes is the Shelter House in Iowa City. While Shelter House offers temporary housing and supportive services that help individuals and families make the transition to more stable, productive lives, our firm helps people with disabilities, injuries or illnesses obtain Social Security Disability, Veterans Disability, and/or Workers' Compensation benefits. We also work to give back to agencies in our community, like Shelter House, that share our vision. In a joint project with the Mears Law Office, we host a Homeless Outreach Clinic at Shelter House three Wednesdays a month. Attorneys Mary Hoefer and Jeremy Flaming offer free legal consultation and advice. Attorney Amy Kretkowski also holds a veterans' legal clinic as part of the Shelter House veterans' meeting once a month. This October, we will have several members of the firm running in a variety of races at the Des Moines Marathon. All the money we raise will go directly to Shelter House. Attorney Jeremy Flaming will run the full marathon, attorney Mary Hoefer the half, and several staff members will run in the relay marathon.
