BENEFITING: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF HOUSTON INC
EVENT DATE: May 25, 2013
Every year I try to do a little something to give back to a place that gave me so much during the most difficult time of my life.
Rewind the clock almost 9 years ago... My handsome Holden was born May 25, 2004 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome that went undiagnosed until his little body started shutting down. After being told he needed to get to a hospital that could take this on, we made the trek and for 10 days Ronald McDonald House was our home. At 19, I was scared and had no clue how I was going to afford to pay his medical bills much less find myself somewhere to get much needed rest.
Unfortunately, God had other plans for Holden and he went to Heaven June 6, 2004 just a day after his big brother's birthday. When we left the Ronald McDonald house that day, I felt like I was leaving a part of my heart behind.
Nothing I could ever do would repay the kindness of the people that work in and for this organization but with your help I can make sure that other families won't have to worry about where they are going to sleep, how they are going to feed themselves. If you've ever been in that position, you know exactly how it feels.
There are Ronald McDonald houses set up all over the country. This fundraiser is specifically for the houses here in Houston but if you would like to make a donation to one in your area please look up where they are located and call them to make a donation. They each work off of donations received directly and EVERY little bit helps.
REMEMBER: If you don't help, nobody will like you. Especially me!
