The winter months bring high utility bills and other financial challenges to low income families. Cuba Cultural Center's benevolence program assists during crisis, averts utility shut-off, prevents homelessness, and helps fund our Backpack program (weekend meals for elementary children). Costs rise each year, and more families find themselves in need of assistance.
The Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which has been helping families in Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties, NY, since 2010. Our food pantry services approximately 600 families each month, and we have an active soup kitchen. Other programming includes a 29 week course to help people overcome life trauma. Our benevolence program is an important way to assist families in at-risk, rural, communities.
