BENEFITING: BREAST CANCER COALITION OF ROCHESTER INC
EVENT DATE: May 10, 2015
I am a SIXTEEN year breast cancer survivor of Stage III Breast Cancer. I count my blessings every single day that I have been given a reprieve from this very scary disease. So many of my friends have not been as fortunate. Breast Cancer gets so much attention because it DESERVES this much attention. Over 40,000 women in our country lose their lives to breast cancer… Every. Single. Year. And nearly 400 men... and WE NEED TO END IT. For our daughters, for our granddaughters, for our sons and their sons, for our mothers and our aunts and our cousins, for our friends and our neighbors and our coworkers. We need to end it seriously NOW.
Until we do, those who are newly diagnosed need resources to assist them with critical decision-making, support, education and advocacy issues. They need information about current and emerging trends in treatment, research and clinical trials. The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester is the total package. With all the breast cancer fundraising brouhaha that seems to happen around the globe, and including some of the cRaZy pinkwashing that goes on... take heart and be confident in the work of the Coalition. Every penny raised stays right here in the Greater Rochester Region ensuring that the variety of free (hello!) programming continues; that advocacy at the local, state and national level continues; that research focusing on cause and cure continues. And you can help! $10... $20... $50... $100... $1000... $10,000 (haha)... every dollar matters!
This year, I have five itty-bittys I am walking for... and another on the way. I am walking for them, their parents, my husband, my nieces and sisters, my mom and dad, my sister-in-laws, my mother and father-in-law... lives all devastated by cancer. I walk for my beautiful global advocacy friends... Musa, Marj, Ginny, Debbie and, though missing from this realm, Maria. I walk for all my friends and family... and I walk for YOU.
I have taken it a step further this year. I am challenging my awesome and magical Board of Directors, my incredibly devoted and compassionate staff, and the truest, bluest (pinkest) Pink Ribbon Run & Family Fitness Walk COMMITTEE to make a page, raise funds and compete with each other to raise funds for our community's only full-scope, grassroots, community-based breast cancer organization.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
