Homeless for the Holidays
Organized by: Michael Anthony
EVENT DATE Nov 18, 2016
We have all been effected by homelessness, displacement and lack of affordable housing. We are building a peer-lead movement to end homelessness, from the streets to the stars together we are stronger!
Welcome to Homeless Solidarity Project's 2nd annual "Homeless for the Holidays" Fundraiser and Gear Drive!
We are setting our goals high this year to expand our gear distribution and outreach efforts. We have an organizational goal for 2017 to develop and implement a model of peer-run activities-based support-groups in 3 different communities throughout Maine.
These groups will provide a structure to this growing movement, and give peers an oppertunity to get to know one another, share ideas, work together, and empower one another to take the lead in their own struggles.
Help us get this year off to a good start by donating, to help provide winter gear to folks on the streets in Maine, and produce our monthly newsletter.
Our goal is to raise $5000 between Black Friday to New Years Day!
We will have a kickoff event on Black Friday, activities all month long in December and wrap it up with a new years party.
This is what your contributions will go to:
1. 100 winter jackets and hoodies
2. 100 Pairs of Winter Boots
3. 300 pairs of wool socks
4. 1000 Hand warmers
5. 500 newsletters/month for 6 months
