Homeless, helpless, 3000 miles from home!
Organized by: Desmond Cooper
Almost a week ago a classmate asked if he could crash at my place until morning due to him being wasted. Friends don't let friends drive drunk so I allowed him to stay. As I began to fall asleep he yells out hey can I run a bath to soak for while and of course I said yes. I doze off shortly after, about 2 hours goes by awaken by the continuous water running. Thinking its a dream I see objects floating across my room and quickly snap into reality. Water is rushing from under the restroom door and has begun to go down the stairs. The bathroom door is locked. So I break it open and my friends body is covering the drain his skin turning white from being in the water. I panic to revive him. Emergency services are called and the Sunbelt company is overwhelmed with that amount of water that has flooded my apt. Monday come and the front office relentlessly pounds on my door insisting an emergency inspection. As I began to explain she slaps pink paper on my table reading "tenant must vacate within 24 hours." I'm thousands of miles from my home town to attend school. My moms just barely getting stable back home and I have no help. In trying to move my things I had to miss work in which they are very critical about time and missed days. So being suspended from work out here alone with no help has me homeless. Literally! I have nothing to call my own anymore and no one to turn to. If I can get $600 for a deposit for a new apartment and maybe $200 to restore personal items (deodorant, soap towels, ect) I could have a place, continue work, finish school, and prevent such things from happening again. Anything helps I am desperately asking, this is my only hope. Tears fall, and my heart aches as I realize I have nobody not even the classmate who cause this to happen.
