This is for a local veteran. He was recently discharged in march for medical disability. The veteran was told that he wouldnt have to worry about when his next paycheck would be because it would come just like it normally did. Several months after being discharged he was still waiting for that promise and his funds were dwindling. He had to start selling off everything they owned.
He contacted numerous organizations that he was aware of as being able to help in emergency situations and unfortunately was not able to recieve any. It wasnt until he needed these resources myself did i actually realize just how hard it is to get help. I had told many soldiers, veterans, civilians about the plethora of available resources. It would be too long to explain how each organization operates, who they can actually help and if they even have current funding. Even in a large metro city with apparently over 250 veteran organizations it was slim to none to find assistance just imagine how horrid it is in rural areas.
