Hello, dear family and friends...
I am writing this appeal to support a dear friend and her family. Please read the following summary of their situation. Any monetary gift you can offer at this time would be so appreciated, as their situation is dire. Thanks so much for your consideration.
Ever so gratefully yours, Jen~Daniel’s mama
The Alexander Family was recently informed that they would need to vacate their home by January, 2015, as their landlord plans to bring in new tenants who can afford a doubling of the rent. Unfortunately, they are on a fixed disabled income. Sage and her daughter have a rare genetic disorder called Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that has an average life expectancy of age 48, which Sage is near. For more information on this awful disease, please see http://www.ednf.org/vascular-type
In an effort to secure a roof over their heads, the Alexanders are working on purchasing an old, used RV to live in. They slept in it one night and it was so dusty from the very old fabrics, carpet, blinds, vents, etc. that their 9-year-old daughter had a severe asthma attack. Her asthma has led to Bronchitis and is threatening to turn into bacterial pneumonia as a result, something the poor child has already been hospitalized for twice in her young life.
This family desperately needs our help. As you can see, they need to have the RV professionally cleaned, the carpet pulled, hospital beds installed, a wheelchair retrofit, help with moving, and a working heater to get them through the winter. They need to take it in on Monday, December 21, but they must raise the money to pay for the repairs that could be upwards of $4,000, and they have other expenses that are beyond their means as well.
Obviously, this is an urgent situation. Their immediate overall need is $13,000.
The Alexander Family qualifies for a Habitat for Humanity home, but there are 400 people in the lottery for two homes to be built in 2016 and they won't be eligible for the lottery until 2017. They are on several lists for low-income housing but those can take years. On their limited fixed income, they simply cannot afford to move into anything other than the RV at this time.
My friend and her family have really suffered one challenge after the next so please please give what you can. No amount is too much or too little. In addition to giving what you can, please pass on this fundraising message, asking your communities to help as well.
The Alexanders are so very grateful for any assistance you can provide. Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns of if you can help in some other way. Thank you.
